Event Notts Classic Car/ Sportscar and Motorbike Show, Monday 5th May.

Bluey is on the road. I've just taxed it. I don't work on bank holidays - one of my few days off.. The stars are aligning. I just need to remember to go before I get stuck into another project on Monday. :)

Looking for a little one-handed polisher?

I'm amazed at the sobriety in this thread. Time for me to visit mumsnet. The lack of immaturity on here has crossed the line. :ymdevil:

Rebody 250 California build thread for dummies

Top tip. Get your painter to give you the EXACT colour match combination he used (not the one he tried to use), as well as any paint codes (and whose codes). Most importantly, also ask for a small pot of touch-up paint. Colour matching a named colour that is not from the factory is a...

    Wanted Under body panel bolts

I reckoned that a tenner would cover it. That's either 30 minutes of searching the garage (perhaps not finding them), or a KFC variety meal. Sometimes I bite the bullet instead of a piece of succullent poultry :) I got 20 "undertray securing screws" for £11 on 2021... Y 24/04/2021 20...

    Wanted Under body panel bolts

BMW could have them. They are not expensive.

    Anybody retrofitted air con?

Agree with Pond. I think the heater units are different. It's a complete strip down of the dash and possibly an engine out for very little gain.

    cold air filter

I noticed that the link to Testo in Bimmer website is broken. I can give you access to the program if you want it.

    cold air filter

INPA runs best on an XP computer with an RS232 serial port. If you can get that to run, then try using Testo. That records INPA data and can be viewed from the data logs. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that Testo may run without INPA being installed...

    cold air filter

You probably won't notice the gains, but there will be some. 1% more air for every 7°C drop in temperature. If you have INPA (or, better still, Testo), you will be able to measure the gain in mass air flow. It will be very easy to test the improvement, as your setup looks like it's very easy...

I wish I'd done this, but my original intention was to eliminate the cluster completely. I used brighter bulbs than standard, so I'd have used the wires shown as signal wires, and used transistors to illuminate the bulbs. I doubt if you will have any problems, but my dash bulbs are 2W compared...

Wow. If that's what dry ice can do, I'm impressed. I've seen it on telly, and it looked good, but thought it could be snake oil. Was it dry ice to clean, then Lanoguard to make it shiny, or is that ML's little secret? It looks like one of the best undersides that I've seen on a car that...

    Z3M S54

Looking VERY good. It would be good to see a better photo of the rear beam bushes. The beam should be resting on a pad of rubber about 5mm thick (Item 3 in the link). It's very common for the pad to be worn away and the beam drops, revealing a gap at the top of the beam. Most cars have it...

    Diff speed sensor info

Top tip. The best way to measure the circumference is to get the valve to the very bottom (or draw a chalk mark on the tyre), roll the car one wheel revoultion and measure the distance. Better average to roll for three revolutions and divide by three. This method removes any error caused by...

It looks very, very nice under there. I can't see the sills too well, but they look ok in the images. If you are concerned at all about anything, I'd give the sills a proper look (they look to be in very good condition) and check the boot for popped welds. Other than that, nothing else should...

    Diff speed sensor info

If it's the ETB speedo, you can programme it over a measured mile. This is what I did, and it's very accurate - so accurate that I did it again to make it read slightly faster. It's easy to measure a mile on an OS map - 32mm on a 1:50000 map.

    Light Switch

The best solution is to decide on an illumination level and solder everything in place to make it non-adjustable.

That's the plan. After 60 miles in nearly three years, what could possibly go wrong? =))

    Pingu's M Roadster

After driving 61 miles in 1000 days, Bluey is MOT'd. Photos have been sent to the insurer for the guaranteed value to be confirmed, and then it will be taxed on 1st May, ready for it's next adventure.

    Starter Motor.

I think they use a super-dooper version that tests the battery in a wide variety of conditions. You can tell a lot about a battery's condition if you have the right kit. They all work in the same way. Add a resistance then measure the voltage and the current. The clever bit is interpreting...

    Starter Motor.

If you don't think short-circuiting a battery is scary then fair enough. I was less worried when I was cutting up bullets with a hacksaw than I was when I was whacking the probes onto a truck battery. If the starter is not working, true, but the starter was working and was probably drawing 80%...
