Hi everyone, after 1 year of ownership of a 1997 1.9 roadster i am still loving every minute of driving our car, some niggles need sorting though. IF someone out there can help with what I suspect could be a charging issue I would really appreciate it if you could message me. Steve

Battery was charged the other day, its a new Yuasa one, as the car had Benn left unused a couple of weeks and was dead. I charged it as I said, went on a good 30 minute run, came home and disconnected it, I checked it this evening and the charger said it was at only 55%, I am concerned that it might not be charging correctly as after a few days in this weather it goes flat, probably 4 to 5 days. I have checked the boot light to ensures it goes off, that is fine. The car is kept outside but under a cover.

Apart from the boot light another way the battery is drained is by a seat motor stuck on. Make sure there is nothing by the switch and the seat is not at the very end of its travel. Or aftermarket stereo could be causing the problem.

Steve, where are you located? I think a multi-meter may help locate the problem. Possibly alternator not charging correctly. Anyway welcome from me near Lincoln.

Tony.

Thanks Tony, I am at Sturton le Steeple near West Burton power station. I have had another message which might help me about not setting the electric seat all the way back so I am going to try that over the next couple of days, failing this I would gratefully accept you assistance. Lincoln is only about 25 min for me. Many thanks, Steve

Hi Mint, thanks for the reply, I am 6' and always set the seat as far back as possible, also there is an after market stereo! I will try both. Thanks again, Steve

You're closer than you think Steve, I'm at Torksey Lock. If you come via Leverton, Stokeham and Dunham (the bridge is 50p these days) its only about 13.5 miles. I'd be happy to check if your alternator is charging properly.

Tony.
