I have a 2006 z4 with sport suspension i know the McPherson strut is stiffer the anti roll bar is thicker & maybe the spring is different can i change these & get a softer ride ? ive had the suspension to bits & it is quite straightforward has anybody changed sport to stock & what was the ride like ?

Are you running on runflat tyres? If so just change them for standard tyres and you'll be pleased with the difference

hi jack thanks for that but the run flats changed a longtime ago i think the problem is the sport suspension i suspect both front & rear dampers a lot stiffer but same size & fitting i know lots of guys have changed stock suspension for lower & stiffer i was just wondering anyone had gone the other way get a softer ride. i know as it is now it takes bends like on rails but my days of speed are coming to a end but i still love the car.

Mine is a Z3 so not quite the same as your Z4, but I have recently changed from sport springs and struts to standard ones. To me the ride quality is exactly the same, firm to bordering on uncomfortable. It's just the way these cars are. My brother-in-law has an early Z4 with standard suspension, and that gives a hard ride too. If you want cornering ability with a comfortable ride you need an old Lotus Elan. Colin Chapman really knew a thing or two about suspension. But then his cars were so light, unlike any modern vehicle.
