Been suffering a little over the last few weeks with the car running a little bit rough. Felt a bit down on power, and at idle the rev needle would fluctuate as the engine was hunting for a consistent idle. No fault codes showing when read. Disconnected the MAF on Friday, and boy is it a different car.

Now done 300+ miles without it plugged in and the power is back again along with a slight decrease in fuel consumption. Even got used to the engine management light coming on now it's figured it's not plugged in.

Discussed it with Lee over the weekend and he tried it on his yesterday, and seems to have cured his problems too - although his idle issues were worse than mine. Seems our Z4's are somehow in sync with each other.

We are going to try cleaning the MAF first with some electrical contact spray, and failing that source replacements. Looks like they are about £140 from Siemens, but will be giving Sopers a ring too,

Like I was saying on the weekend.

Some people reckon mafs should be changed like a service item.

I'm defo going to be doing mine soon

I've got a z3 1.9 so things are a little different. But I've experienced issues with my Maf on both my zeds at some point. Here is what would happen,

The fix was easy for both as I cleaned the Maf out with some electrical cleaner and job done.
