35iS E89 N54 Tuning

Recently bought a 2013 35iS and am already turning my thoughts to some performance upgrades.

I'd like a little more noise too!

So...

I understand that the secondary cats can be deleted without any issue, but what about the primary cats? I suspect the ECU will have a hissy fit, but can this be overcome easily enough by a remap / flash?

Hi, have a look at MHD or BM3, remove primary cats = MOT failure -

Sorry - should have mentioned in my post that I’d keep the OE system and put it back on for MOT.

Had a helpful chat with Kevin at Birds.

He recommended their tune and sports cats - 400 reliable, road-friendly BHP.

He warned against going much further due to chassis limitations.

I would seriously consider an LSD, and in my opionion upgrade the suspension - as it will transform the car.

Z4 35is is a strange car, as its the last E class car with this engine.

Have birds done an 35is before?

The car already has a Quaife ATB diff (and the Alcon 6-pot front brake kit).

What suspension upgrades are generally recommended for this model?

You got a bit of a monster there, especially with a remap

Well the IS has adaptive suspension - with this you get the best of both worlds - however depends what your looking to achieve - reduce role - you could look at bigger anti-role bars, and springs to lower the car - the ride will be still comfortable - but not quite an B road or track day monster.

If you want to improve its road manners - but happy to reduce comfort then going for coilovers is your only other option - I had KW3's on my E89 - not everyone's taste - but totally transformed the car - and made the steering much more responsive. However, if you go down this route, ensure you have the ones with adaptive suspension cut out
