I’ve had my E89 a month now, the previous owner attached an after market spoiler to the boot lip with 3m tape and gorilla glue. I don’t like it and want to remove it back to its original perfect state. Any advice on removing what will likely be the remains of the gorilla glue/3m tape from paint surface please??

Wait for a hot day and place car in full sun (boot lid) warm inside of boot lid with heat gun (gently) then start to peel the spoiler off.
That is what I would do, but mine is only stuck on with the double sided tape it came with. Why would it have Gorille glue on? Brake/clutch cleaner would be my choice to remove any tape adhesive residue but it’s your car and your risk.

Thanks Tony 👍🏻 That’s what he used to make sure the ends didn’t pop off apparently. I’ve been told acetone works quite well too and won’t damage the paint- dab and wipe to soften.

Acetone will dissolve the paint nicely..if its just the glue residue from 3m tape then WD40 works well and a bit of meths to remove the WD40 residue

The gorilla glue may be an issue, I use it and it's bloody marvelous stuff if you don't want things to come apart.

I have fitted several.of these "lip" type boot spoilers and have only ever used the double sided tape they come with. Never had to use additional adhesive, and as Niall says, it could well be a problem resulting in needing paintwork repair.

Would dental floss string to remove spoiler and then heatgun and plastic razor do the trick?
Same way we remove badges? Anyone tried this on Gorilla Glue?

That sounds like a good idea 👍🏻 maybe even a bit of fishing line?

Used thin fishing line to remove badges, worked ok. But never a spoiler.

T-cut is good for getting tape residue off, as it is quite gentle and won't damage the paint. It takes a little while as it doesn't melt the glue, just 'rubs' it off. Added bonus is the paintwork looks great after. ;)
Fishing line is good but can get 'stuck' in the glue and break if it's not heavy enough. May be a pain on a big spoiler.

Monofilament fishing line doesn't work. The heat generated by pulling it through the glue will cause it to break.
What you need is what anglers call braid. If you know someone who fishes for Carp they will have some. If not, I do.

Strimmer line is also good.
It is also good for clearing the drains in the rubbers on the A pillars on a Z3. :)

UPDATE: I took on board some really good advice from you all thank you. I opted for a WD40 option. The spoiler itself was pretty simple enough to peel away. Seems the previous owner applied 3m tape to the spoiler, dot and dabbed all the way across with gorilla glue and applied this to the boot lip.
After the spoiler came off there was a bit of a mess of 3m tape and goblets of glue stuck to the paint. Here’s where my wife’s packets of makeup remover cotton pads really came in handy - I soaked the pads in wd40 and just applied them on top of the chunks of glue. Left them for 5 mins then rubbed and picked off what came off easily with my fingernail. All that was left was a thin film of glue on the paint, for this I used an old plastic card (like a credit card) and gently scraped the glue off, wiping every now & then with a wd40 soaked pad to remove any excess or help break down the glue further. Overall the job took me about 40 mins, washed the completed sections down with soapy water every few mins to avoid over exposure of wd40 to the cars paint, and my boot-lip is like new! Happy Z4 owner 👍🏻👍🏻. Thank you everyone 👍🏻
