amazing mpg

While driving up the A1 to north yorkshire at the weekend I reset my mpg readout to see what my mpg was.Doing a steady 75mph the readout showed 64mpg which is pretty normal for my motorway miles car a 320D which I have owned for 7 years and (touch wood )still runs great.
However we hit roadworks which brought my speed down to about 50mph, shortly after I glanced down to see my mpg readout of 83.4mpg s ,Amazed is the only reaction I can say!Soon changed when we got going again but this is still high.Anybody able to say they have had a higher readout?

I had 40.1mpg on my read out after a 60 mile trip in my 2.8 z3... not bad for a straight 6 s

Beats me for my zed 2.8 the best Ive had is 34mpg S:frown

I can get 50+ on a motorway trip out of my e39 525d not bad for a big old car

I had my 1.6 diesel Cooper at about 75mpg once. Soon dropped when I got back in the town...

you will get plenty to the gallon as you don't drive it
