As the weather gets wetter and wetter the zed sees less and less of the road.
Can anyone recommend a smart charger to keep the battery top top whilst the car sits in the garage..
I believe the ctek is a good choice but anyone have any experience and can point me in the right direction as christmas is here and gift ideas are required !!
Thanks Ant

Hello mate, the CTEK is excellent, it's on mine all the time.

It has conditioned the battery and its in top condition.

I wouldn't use anything else.

I'm still using my jump starter every time I go to my lockup in the winter, Z battery is just out of its guarantee (5yrs I think) and I don't let the Z batt start the car on its own till next April now, this has worked for me the last few winters cos I've not got any power to my lockup and don't like disconnecting the batt, the good thing is it makes me go round there start it and move the Z out and in again if it's not dry enough for a run out. Thought about those boat solar panel chargers but know I wouldn't go round the lockup for weeks if I had one and the weather was bad. Leave it connected for a few minutes to liven up the Z batt then start. Usually go round once a week in the real bad weather. One of best investments to date, but don't help you much Ant, you've obviously got mains into your garage. I would go with what Mark has, cos if it's good enough for his ZM must be top notch

Plus with mine I don't need any dumb bells.=)) Rha, Roy

Thanks Roy i think Santa may bring me a ctek one .
Yeah the garage has power so no biggy to plug in and maintain. I have had one of the booster packs a great bit of kit along while back and have a charger but wanted something safe to attach and it would maintain rather than worrying about having to connect and disconnected etc.
The last time the zed was left with a flat battery it came back to life with a knackered OBC so i too don't want to disc it but would like to maintain the healthy battery it has.

I use mine every day so I don't have that particular problem. Not so maybe with the 3 as it's still lurking outside the garage. My request for a set of winter tyres has taken a knock with arrival of a certain electric powered kids mobile.:(

That would work Roy but if someone has a lot of Xmas money and wants to buy my 3, I'd be up the creek. Have my 108's but they're for early March!:). I'll just have to tread carefully for a few weeks and maybe scrub these 'orrible noisy hard runflats to death and get winter tyres for next year.

Hope the treads are OK for the rest of the winter, bet you can't wait to get rid of the R/Fs Tony, the only thing they got going for em is the blowout safety.

Too right Roy, I know that these are for getting people (ladies) home after a puncture but after that they're terrible. Noisy, harsh ride little grip, I just don't like them. After the rear ones are worn out the fronts should still have enough tread to make them saleable. Can't wait till March! Maybe a boot spoiler and strut brace .......................;)

Tony.
