I once owned a E85 3.0 and it had side skirts, quite subtle but looked great. Did M models not come with side skirts...im sure from memory they where actually called M-Skirts at the dealer. Was the skirts an option on the M?

To my knowledge the side optional side skirts were part of the Aero kit. They were no lower than standard but had a subtle ridge/line high lying the curve of the door. Similar to the ridges on the M bonnet.
Being part of the Aero kit I don’t think they were an option on the M unless added aftermarket.

That’s the ones...why where they not standard on the M cars? And are they still available?

They’re no longer available from BMW and were never part of the M kit.

They tend to sell for a lot of money on the rare occasion when they come up, but strangely cars sold with the full aero kit don’t seem to command a premium in line with the cost of parts.

The cheapest option may be to find someone selling a full car with the kit and swap them for yours, then sell the donor car on. Or strip the whole car as the bumpers get a reasonable price too.

Of course there is another, less expensive option for changing the appearance of the E85 from the side. Not every body's style but I like it.
