I guess I will not be the only one in this weather, but just gone to start the Z to find the battery as flat as the proverbial witches watsits.

Can anyone recormend a good quality battery / supplier please? I've had a look online and there seems to be quite some varience in price.

There is an Ebay shop selling Bosch batteries at £63 (inc delivery) which seems like a very good deal unless anyone can advise differently.

Thanks

Simon

Try Costco they stock the bosche range at good prices and never quibble about refunds.

Just make sure you get a heavy duty with the highest cold cranking amps ratio (CCA), I always used to fit a Lucas Heavy Duty when i bought a new car, But from what i understand Bosch are the new Lucas

The S6001 has CCA of 760A £124

The S3008 has CCA of 640A £79

Some cheap batteries are less than 500A so be careful, these will turn the engine once in this weather and die.

I would as a matter of course though get your alternator checked, make sure it is putting the right charge back to the battery 14v i think, you can check with a multi meter

Thanks everyone, I think I will go for a Bosch S3008, looks like a decent spec battery at a good price.

SEE QUOTE FROM DC on .NET below, may save some dollars and is a good price for a heavy duty

"Recently bought this:

BOSCH S5 12V, capacity 77Ah, cold test current 780A 5 years warranty.

http://www.carbatteriesonline.co.uk/

at Sutton Auto Factors (Car Batteries On Line)

£72.50 inc delivery seems like a good price if anyone is looking for one.

Free delivery, even to the Scottish Highlands.

Dave. "
