Hello, I am completely new to this and was hoping someone might be able to give me some advice with regards to replacing the battery on my 2002 2.2 Z3 as it not something that I have done before. I would like to know whether it is necessary to attach an auxiliary power supply when disconnecting the current battery in order to preserve and codes and presets.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The only code and pre-sets that you will loose is the ones for the original radio. If you have an original radio, check that you have the code before you change the battery. If you don't, then setting up an auxiliary power supply will do the trick.

You do not have to register the new battery with any control modules in a Z3, so its a simple job.

Thanks for the quick reply and for letting me know that an auxiliary power source is not needed. Fortunately, the car has the original radio and I do have the code for it.

Thanks again

Daniel
