Perhaps a bit of a random question, but what colour is your headlight switch?

The vast majority of cars I see have a chrome effect pull out switch for the headlights, but the one on mine is black. Looking on the likes of e-bay the vast majority of the switches for sale are chrome effect, but the odd black switch is available.

Does anyone know if there is any logic to the different coloured switches? where they only used for a certain period or models?

Just curious.

Both my Zeds are 2002 models and both have a chrome headlight switch. Never heard of or seen a black one.:wideyed:

This is what is on mine. It a year 2000 Aegean Blue edition, but if I see pictures of other Aegean editions, they seem to be chrome. It seems very random.

It was an option.
S345 "chrome line interior" for pre-facelift models and standard on facelift sportline unless it had 15 inch wheels originally (probably a base model).
I had also the same question and asked a dealer.

Ah, that could explain things. I suspect the car did have a chrome switch, but is failed and got replaced but a non-chrome line replacement. I have a replacement chrome switch to swap out to, but this would make sense why it's not chrome now.

My 1997 car has a black switch, and no other chrome, which I like. The chrome (or black) cap can easily be replaced without changing the switch.

The whole knob is chrome. Prise the top cover off and there is an 8mm nut inside. Remove that and the knob itself unscrews.
