Are there any forum members currently touring North Germany? I spotted a black pre-facelift Z3 in Bergen. The reg may have started R44 RA?. A rare sight to see a UK plated car around here so even better to see it on a Zed!

But rare sight to see a uk plate around Bergen? Just 2 or 3 miles from Hohne? One of the biggest Brit garrisons in germany. I bet half the population of Bergen are related to ex squaddies.
Yep, rare! Hohne was, one of the biggest Garrisons in Germany before the British withdrew 9 years ago. Just Germans and Dutch now. Any brits that stayed seemed to live on the fringes of Bergen, any town near a Garrison was never the best place to live - Tidworth springs to mind!
In my whole life I only ever bought one brand new car. That was while in the army in a place called Fallingbostel (Fally) not far from Bergen. A couple of years later we moved to Hohne. Much nearer to Bergen. But most of us used to drive back to Fally for our nights out.
Anyway. Between fally and bergen we'd often take a short cut through the training, live firing area, obviously when the barriers were up so no live firing.
One early morning coming through the live firing area just a mile or so away from Hohne I went straight off a bend in the road into a tree. Wrote my car off

So I live near Winsen Aller, pretty much in between Fally and Bergen but far enough from the ranges to not hear the firing. The ring road that surrounds the ranges killed at least one soldier a year when the British were here with countless others coming off the road into the verges, especially during the winter months and it's not changed one bit.
I used to drive a truck for a company in schwarmstedt. Papenburg. Don't know if they're still there. He was a right tw*t. Gave me a b*llocking once so I just stopped the truck where it was and went home. End of my job with papenburg.
