Now I knew my tyres where wearing on the inside edge but didn't realise how quickly they would go, I feel embarrassed at the state of it and very lucky, not only on this occasion but last week we where doing some very spirited driving in the peaks.
This let go whilst I was cornering quite hard. I think it was the ACS that saved me rather then my driving skills

You are very fortunate not to have been travelling at speed! There's a need to keep a close eye on the rear tyres on a regular basis. Hope the rim is ok too!

I checked them before I went to the Peaks and though worn on the inside edge they looked like they had a bit more time in them, won't risk it again mate

Ouch Sean - glad you are ok, without any serious incidents.
Very lucky tbh, as its sooo easy to push these cars, as they are intended to be driven.

Lucky you didn't visit the green stuff - how far from home were you and how did you get back there?

I think I'd have walked home to pick up a wheel (or phoned for someone to bring one out to me). Hope you get yours straightened out ok.

I'm no tyre expert but looking at where that seems to rip on the sidewall rather than on the tread could this have been a damaged sidewall and maybe a bit low pressure?

I'd have throught it would have let go at the point where there was no rubber left rather on the sidewall itself?

Thats what you call a blow out. It could have been really bad if you were doing a corner at high speed

Lesson to us all to keep close eye on what connects us to the road...never had this happen and I imagine it could be quite scary.

I know I've posted this pic before but these tires looked OK when @miller1098 and I left California. We could see the outside edge which looked OK but couldn't actually see the inside tread which was................well.............. They ended up lasting until we got to West Virginia. Good thing they didn't blow out driving around the Grand Cayon....................
