Having a spot of difficulty removing the gear knob from my Z4 Automatic - I know I have to push the button in and yank upwards. I have removed the battery and seats as I am trying to get to the centre console and eventually replace that, but a bit stuck at the part where I have to remove the gear knob - trouble is it is in park and all the video tutorials I have seen online show it being taken off in Neutral. What should I do?

But if I reconnect the battery to move the gear stick to neutral will the car mess up as I have disconnected the seats?

Have you taken your seats out? If so, after reconnecting the battery, if the seats are plugged in, you will get the airbag light on the speedo cluster!

If you can temporarily replace the seats and reconnect them before reconnecting the battery it should not put the Airbag light on. If it does come on its not the end of the world the get it put out.

Tony.
