BMW's design team knows that their recent work, from the massive vertical kidney grilles on the M4 to the massive vertical faux kidney grilles on the iX, has its detractors.
They also know that the company needs to change and progress to continue selling cars, and, it seems, that since sales in Europe have declined, Adrian van Hooydonk and Domagoj Dukec, on their latest "tweet" to the platform now called "X", stated that the controversial vertical grilles will continue in all circumstances but can be replaced in many models with a different much simpler design if the customer orders the "minimal shape" at an exra cost.
This, their announcement states, "will depend on the customer and the car's character" and is a major driving factor for both Dukec and van Hooydonk, who proclaimed that BMW's secret to selling more cars is simple: "You can't sell more of the same."
