At the risk of another Mickey take from BMG I have what is probably a naive question!

I have now "invested" in another Carcoon and my two toys are safely ensconced in a damp free environment whilst the rain pours here in Somerset. Part of the beauty of a Carcoon is the trickle charger which keeps the battery ticking over during the period of inactivity, I am still very new to the Z3M and was somewhat perturbed to find that the battery was located in the boot. Not only will the lead not reach unless I reverse the car in but leaving the boot lid open permanently didn't seem a great idea either. However, having read the owners handbook it would appear that I can attach the trickle charger under the bonnet even though the battery is elsewhere although the instruction detail as to exactly where is far from clear.

Can anyone confirm whether 1. I am able to leave a trickle charger attached somewhere under the bonnet? And if so 2. Exactly where? A picture of the relevant connection points would be brilliant.

In the meantime a picture of my sleeping beauties!! ( and I know cars were made to drive etc etc)

I leave mine on trickle charge under the bonnet.

I put the leads through the kidney grills.

There is a positive terminal you can connect to.
Under the plastic cap with a Red Cross on.

The negative is to the left at the top of the strut.

I have no photo at present.

This process allows the bonnet to be closed and the car locked.

I connect mine as bmg says although no need to feed the wires throu the kidney dish there is a convenient gap in the drivers side wheel arch liner that the wires slot into quite conveniently and allows the bonnet to be fully opened and shut without trapping the wires. ;)

Cant you use the cigarette lighter attachment ?
I have been looking at the Carcoons site,
not a lot more money compared to my fancy indoor cover, very impressed.
what size did you get?
And where did you purchase if you don't mind me asking

Hi Boysie

I purchased direct from carcoon. They have a website but I just rang them and sorted it direct. They won't discount from list price at all but were flexible on the postage! The Z3 needs a size 3 (large) as did the 911. I did look at eBay prior to buying both but it seems these things hold their value really well. The small discount for buying a secondhand one really wasn't worthwhile.

I have been really impressed with condition of my 911 whilst "carcooned" both from a mechanical and bodywork perspective hence why I've bought another for the BMW. I do like the look of the framed version which would make retrieving the car much easier - but I don't have the space so the trad version will suffice.

I've no link at all with the company but would recommend this product. Hope this helps!
