Thank you for letting me join this forum.

I have a 2014 BMW Z4 with the roof stuck in the closed position. Does anyone know of a roof specialist in the Edinburgh area as, like another member said, I'm reluctant to take it to BMW. The roof issue is probably a result of water ingress as I had to drain about 4 inches of water from the boot. I've tried replacing the roof motor and a couple of relay switches which were sitting in the wet area but this has not solved the problem. From what I have read I believe it is likely to be a "micro switch" somewhere but I will need a specialist to confirm locate and hopefully replace it or them.

Also, does anyone know if there is a typical route for the water getting into the boot? Any suggestions please?

Feeling doom and gloom as I've seen posts on another forum saying BMW want to replace whole
roof and I shudder to even think how much that would cost.

Thank you in advance for any thoughts!

There are very few people around who know much about the E89 roof. Generally BMW dealers don't and you will spend a fortune for them to just change parts until something works..

First thing is get the codes read to isolate where the problem is. The water in the boot is unlikely to have caused the issue, unless either a relay has fried, or the pump motor which you say you have changed.

If you are OK with a spanner, items like microswitches can be changed yourself easily and are cheap (around £20 each).
If not there is a chap called Mike who runs a place called "the Zed Shed" (not to be confused with the volunteers on this forum). He is in North West England (Cheshire/ Manchester way I believe). He has mixed reviews as a person, but does seem to know his way around an E89 roof.

Water can get in the boot a variety of ways; from poor maintenance of the rubber seals to leaking or damaged seals (almost anywhere) to over zealous use of a pressure washer. Usually simple to fix but can be a bugger to find.
