Bonnet cable

Hi I brought my Z3 1999 a few weeks ago , very pleased with it well I was untill today I went to open the bonnet and the cable broke , dose any one have any ideas how to get the hood open now , I don't mind having ago myself at the repair but can't find any information on it cheers Don

Hi Don, it might be worth removing the lever from the side panel to see if you can access the end of the cable and grip it with some Mole grips or the like.. It may have snapped at the inner end. If it has snapped at the outer end you will probably have to remove one or both of the kidney grilles to access the bonnet catch. HTH.

Thanks for the advise Tony must admit to feeling right fed up to night , but will have a go at it tomorrow cheers

Hi @jayneo, I had a problem opening my bonnet after someone backed into the nose pushing in the grills and the nose a bit. Pulling on the cable handle did nothing so we took the damaged grills out which gave us access to the left side latch and cable as well as the shorter cable to the right side latch. We were able to pull those cables by hand and while I held those my brother pulled up on the bonnet. Opened first try and we were able to pull the nose out far enough to get it to operate as normal although occasionally I need someone to pull the bonnet very slightly to get it open. HTH JIM
