As above, does anyone know if the 2.8 and 3.0 are all the same as real oem show different part numbers apart from the short cable and want to make sure to get the correct ones first time if possible.
Any recommendations where to order from during lockdown? Cheers guys

I can't see them being different as the bodies are the same. I bought new cables and catches from Sopers. I think the full set was around £70 including the little lever in the cockpit

Haha, cant help with the question but just changed mine today.

Why is it so scary when you close the bonnet for the first time?

I was having trouble opening the bonnet and found the long cable in very bad shape at the end near the latch.

Thanks for the advise guys, not even sure this is in the correct place now, it’s not an M just a normal 3 litre. Took me an age to open the bonnet having taken off the inner trim and bonnet lever there was just too much slack in the cable . Further investigation found the drivers side latch cable guide broken where the cable feeds in so although the cables not broken t just floats about when the levers operated.
Want to replace both latches and cables together just need to find a dealer who’s selling parts still online, why on earth did BMW use such an over complicated set up when my sons Z4 reverts back to a single cable and catch.

Can the cables be lubricated?
Way beyond that Boatdude , amazing that it worked so well until recently. The main cable is frayed at the bonnet latch end plus the plastic cable guide on the first latch has split hence the cable moves but doesn’t put any pressure on the latch, just makes sense to me to replace as a set while I’m at it .
