I can't open the bonnet in my 2004 Z4... I wanted to open the bonnet tonight for something and pulled the release, however when I tried to open it the bonnet was stuck... I managed to release the catch by fiddling with it a bit (there was a gap so I guess the rope works, that's something) but then could not close it again for some reason.
Perhaps foolishly I then noticed that the catch (this is the bit connected to the rope I guess, not the bit on the actual bonnet) was loose and removed it. Unfortunately the bonnet closed after this and I was left with the latch in my hand... It won't open again!
Any ideas? Do these latches normally come off? I did try to push it in before but as it was night time I couldn't see very well where it was supposed to go.
