I've noticed that when I open the boot, the opposite side of the boot (inside top) is wet. Is this a bad break light seal? Is it hard to change? Is the dealership the only place to get one. Frankie

Hi Frankie,
I had the same problem. Some of the plug in bulbs had failed so I replaced those and then teased out the light unit. It's easy to clean up the gasket and the hole it fits in to,.then applied a smear of silicone sealant. It sealed nicely (checked this by pouring water over the unit with the boot closed) No leakage since.

I'll give it a try. If I understand what you're saying, you're using the same gasket, but added some silicone to it?

Hi Frankie,
Yes... I cleaned the gasket and that part of the boot lid it seals against and then applied a generous spread of sealant. I wiped off any that squeezed through and left the sealant to set (dry). It worked well.
I wish all the jobs I've done on the Z were that simple !!!
Good luck
