After seeing the front strut brace bar on Mac Roman's car I though I would have a look and see what's around for the Z4. Saw this company on eBay with this model, has anyone any experience fitting their products please? The write up is good, wonder if the products are as good?:)

I see your point there, most Beemers have those but I would have thought that one between the towers would do what those can't, or at least not directly any how. I might have to ask Mac Romans to try his with it removed and see what he reckons, that is if his is in separate pieces.;)

i was under the impression that they keep the geometry of the front of the car correct and theres no need for a brace.....all tho it was a Z4 owner who told me that ....im not naming names...but you know him

Well to be honest mate the one I'm looking at, at that kind of money is worth a punt I reckon. Did you have a chance to read the back ground of the manufacturer in Malaysia.

Makes me wonder if the cross bracing adds anything expect visual as all the z4GT3's don't have a cross brace just the bars going back to the firewall.
Obviously there is a lot of stiffness added to the chassis with the 'roll cage' safety cell which must add massively to the torsional rigidity of the chassis. All that holds roadsters together is the lower chassis rails and the front underbody brace so there must be a tendancy to twist the body even if the front is held rigid. My thoughts on their usefulness but admit they add a bit of bling to the engine area.

Surely the cars engine will add rigidity via the engine mounts ?

I've just gone through the vids Gary posted in his latest thread and it is pretty clear after watching all of them that there is an advantage to the cross strut and I believe it's use with the triangulated three bar system would aid most vehicles that are driven even moderately aggressively. Give them a watch, very interesting facts of physics, etc. explained in terms even I understand! JIM

The engine mounts are rubber based and oil filled so don't really add any rigidity Garry. If they were solid the vibration through the car would be horrendous.
