Got an oil leak from the cam cover so got to get a new gasket kit. I've been looking on the Bavarian Autosport videos and doesn't look to hard to change.

I suppose rubber should harden after 13 years. will take some photo's when I do it. I might even check the crankase breather system whilst I'm at it.

I've just got the new gasket and got the cover off. The rubber gasket was nearly solid and leaking all along the exhaust side. I've cleaned up the black oil from the cover so i's all clean now soon be ready to start to put it back together. Will post some pictures later.

The removal only took just over an hour including getting tools etc from the shed. All looks nice and clean around the cams. Soon be running again.

You will need to use the relevant sealer which is specified as Drie Bond 1209, which its equivalent is Loctite 5910 available from Halfords £5, you need to apply this at the joint interfaces of the castings, timing cover (vanos) to head etc, other wise you will get oil leaks, not it has a cure time, so fit the gasket and leave over night

Thanks for that zedonist. I have been trying to find the equivalent and you have just confirmed my research. I have got some but it is past its sell by date so I will get some more today. Got to be ready for Sunday for the Duxford day out.
