CD connection to head unit

I recently replaced my C33 radio on my 1998 Z3 with the exact same factory radio that was refurbished. The refurbished radio works perfectly, But the CD will not turn on.(it worked prior).
My question is; is there a SEPERATE connection to the head unit for the CD?
If so, can someone please post a picture of that connection?

Sorry, but isn't the C33 a radio and tape cassette player? Do you mean the CD43?

Anyway, the CD43 does not have a separate connection for the CD other than for the CD changer in the boot. If you are talking about a CD43, then maybe the CD unit is dead?

Yes, it is a C33 radio & cassette player.
The CD worked perfect prior. I have a feeling it's a connection issue to the head unit? What is this connection for, does anybody know?

If you had the CD changer before, then there is definitely a separate cable for the CD data cable, that looks like this (I believe):

radio_wiring_harness.jpg

Terminal 7 provides the power to the CD changer, and the white connector above is the data cable.

Yes, everything is identical on both radios....Maybe its a bad CD switch?

I am not an expert on any of this, but if the power and data cables are in place, then I would assume the head unit is at fault.

Need some one else with more experience of those head units, perhaps? @Zephyr any comments/suggestions?

Please In order to figure out what type of connection needs to checked, you will need to find out which stereo head unit you have. (Not type - but brand).
With the radio turned on, press the "PROG" button along with the "MODE" or "Tuner" (-) button.
The radio will then print out on its display the manufacturer name, and what version of the radio it is.
Some older radios (although look exactly identical) have a different connection diagram.
This later ones have an interface called "IBUS," whereas the earlier interface was known as "MBUS."
The IBUS and MBUS cars have different pins and wires for the CD changers.
So we need to check this first and also that the right pin sends signal to your cd changer in the back of the car. (Taking for granted that the head unit is working perfectly and there is no other issue).

The brand is Alpine. The model is c33.
There is no PROG button. Thank you
Number 7 pin that @Mus Musculus pointed above is the ibus connection to the cd changer.
for models prior to 1996 this pin is an Mbus or blank.
if this is the case (the headunit they sent you is an older model it will not work).
or it is broken.
Did the person who refurbished the unit have tested it?
i am sorry I can not help with this.
