Changing the oil pan gasket on the M44, how bad is it?

A little bit too much oil is leaking from the pan imo. Seems like a semi-complicated procedure. I've got the manual transmission. At least two inverted torx must be removed along with possibly the steering rack?

Anyone done it here?

Firstly make sure it is that, and not the oil filter housing gasket, which is very common on that model.

No idea about M44 but on the M43 I lifted the car, put a transmission lift jack under the engine to keep it in place, removed the cross brace, then used another lift to hold the front sysfem up and untightened the bolts until I could tilt the oil pan just slightly to slide it out.
Took me two days to do it, having an extra pair of hands would make things easier.
On aftermath, I would not do it on my own again, even having power tools and a decent lift, feeling the engine moving left and right above my head was not a nice feeling.
