Good luck with that one, looks like E85 Z4's are getting to be worth more stripped (Really must empty that thought)

The trouble is most of the cars (Z3/Z4) with the exception of M's are worth more stripped. I still have the entire chassis/monocoque, running gear, engine/gearbox, Elec roof, windscreen, suspension, brakes, and roll hoops from the Z3, on which my "Italian Clothes" are draped.

The base Z3 2.8 cost me £2250 and I have sold the body panels and interior for £2000 so far (net cost of Z3 £250) with another £700 plus still listed for sale. If I did not need all the running gear mentioned above, that would be worth £1000 (conservatively). Grand total if I stripped and sold for parts £3950. £1700 profit!

The £1700 potential above does not include breaking parts down further than whole items. Pair of seats for example fetched £150, broken down into covers, runners, motors, switches, etc. probably £250.

Don't get me wrong, I would not advocate buying Z's just to strip, otherwise, I would be doing it wholesale (I have a well-equiped workshop and 30000 square feet of storage at my place). The cars are an appreciating asset that will realize more than a "quick-buck" profit over the next few years and, more importantly, are for driving pleasure not profit. As I said once before on here:

"Tax-efficient Stock Market is for Investment, houses are for living in, wine is for drinking, antiques are for sitting on and, Z's are for driving!"

Has worked for me as an Investment/Pension and Mortgage Adviser for the last 26 years!

Oh, and if you are looking for a wind-break, it is really easy and cheap to make one. A cardboard template, £10 worth of 5mm perspex, 4 velcro straps £3.50, 1/2 hour with a jigsaw & a Dremel, sandpaper, and Brasso (yes, Brasso!). Not original but comes out by releasing four straps and no damage to the hoops. It works and, as a bonus, you can see through it!:
