As far as I'm aware there is no other type. However there are differing quality of the adhesive covers. I looked and couldn't source any metal plated handles.

There is a way to chrome most non metallic materials, just check the interior of any car built after the 70's. I have a solution that brushes on that allows the conduct of electricity which is then submerged in a solution and the steps of copper, nickel and then chrome are layered on using something like a battery charger. You can find the process on Google and find co's that sell supplies. Or find a co that does the copper baby shoes and see what they'd charge. I will be doing some experimentation this summer. JIM

They are stainless steel chrome plated OEM "covers" are they not?

These are on my next project, definitely not just stuck on, but also don't think they are metal.

Look nice though.

For the price in Real OEM @$20.97 each side, and assuming that both parts per side are included, they're the same price as mine. I can't see those in Andy's pictures being any other than chromed plastic or some cheap alloy if they're solid, as they appear to be.

@Steve7820 The realoem link gives you the BMW part numbers. They are the original chrome handles not covers.

Part no. 1 in the Real OEM is listed as a covering, but doesn't show the "lever" part of the handle which you lift to open the door. I would contact Soper's at Lincoln with the part numbers to see what they are and if they're still available and at what cost for the complete outer handle.

@t-tony When you read through the list you will see that the schwatz is also listed as a covering. I think that a call to Sopers is the best idea too.

I agree Paul, whether it be black or chrome they're both listed as a covering but it's not clear if it includes the lever part. Sometimes parts listings aren't very clear, we often have them faxed through at work to try to identify the parts we need to order but it can be a bit of a lottery.:)
