Chrome windscreen frame

Hi,

Just got my Z3 out for the summer and have decided I fancy a change - currently got a chrome frame around the window.

Firstly not sure if this is stock from factory or not?

Second I’d like to change this to body coloured - anyone done this and have any advice? I thought having it wrapped it might work but any advice is welcomed!

Factory option ..... Just carefully remove it, its only stuck on, paint will be underneath

Thanks! Well that will hopefully save me some cash. Probably be a completely different colour underneath mind without the 20 years of fading the rest of the paints had

Hopefully someone will shout up that has removed one just in case there's a way to do it and a way not too

It's usually installed as part of the external chrome pack with door handles, bonnet side grilles and 3rd brake light.

It is indeed supposed to be just stuck on with double-sided tape. Personally I would treat it as a bonus if it comes off and the paint is okay underneath.

I bit the bullet and took it off tonight with the help of the Mrs hairdryer to heat the glue. Worked a treat the paint underneath is in great condition.

My problem is - none of the seals now align because obviously they are sat where the chrome used to be. Any suggestions or ideas if this is likely to cause me issues?
