I know I keep asking questions on here so I have another or two. First one I’m wanting to lower the car now I’ve spent this year restoring everything on her and have splashed out on all new standard stock shocks which got me through m.o.t and back on the road which was important to me. How ever there were two or three members on here that commented when I posted pictures of the finished car that it would look better lower, I’m inclined to agree so which way to go I’m considering adjustable coil overs but what make to go for I’m wondering with out breaking the bank and I know there will be a lot of differing opinions my choice would probably be spax or Bilstein.
Second question is if I fit adjustable shocks do you remove the coil spring on rear swinging arm and do away with it,if not I’m surmising I’d have to replace it with one’s with the required height. One more thing for all those who did not watch my progress feed on here, every bush under the car has been replaced with power flex I’m now just wanting to complement those bushes with upgraded suspension.

Yes I’ve looked at just the spring option and price wise is more favourable especially since as I say I have just fitted all new shocks. It is certainly worth some thought.

Made a big difference to mine. Only pic I have handy at the moment.

Yes that looks about as low as I want to go just looks like the wheels fit the arch nicer. And that looks a nice Z3.
You can see why I want to lower mine lol.
Yep, you appear to have the rural edition, Eibachs are great and not too harsh, there are some horror stories about the ride with cheap coil overs so unless you are prepared to spend a lot of cash I would go with 30mm lowered Eibachs
I put them on and they are great, I would like to go a bit lower as I think Zs really suit the lower stance but wouldn't want to go any harsher on the ride

As Sean d said coil overs are costly, are you planning to track the car hence coil overs? Eibachs were around £100 for the set.

No I’m not tracking this car. Just thought coil overs would be the way to go. That is what I like about this club it’s the input and help with things like this food for thought thanks every one.

Not heard of them will have a look for some info on them and check out the price. Andy do coil overs do away with that spring I mentioned.
Hi

Rear still has a shock and separate spring. Seen here on page 5 near the bottom

As others have said lowering springs will do the drop too, if you wanted to go coilovers then I'd go ST, my current track car has the eibach/bilstein pro kit from demon tweaks, pretty good but v expensive!

How do you determine how much to lower so the tyres don’t catch the arch especially on front when you put the lock on. I see Eibach do a 30mm 40mm and a 50mm. I’m on 18” wheels

Thanks Andy I know the sky is the limit on suspension I had even thought about air suspension but not sure on that at all.

I went for the 30mm drop and have 18” MV1’s fitted, glad I didn’t choose 40 or 50mm, would have been too much I reckon.

Yes I’d expect to have problems with speed bumps if to low.

My car has 18" wheels and I fitted the 30mm lowering kit, recommended by the Zed Shed guys and with it having sport suspension the actual drop was more likely 18-20mm.
