cold air filter

made my own filter housing so i could use large high flow cone filter in instead of the flat bm one. its only reinforced fibre glass with a bit of vinyl i took old one out cut it in half around the mould joint of the bm housing kept lower half as this fits into bm own cold air feed. its a very tight awkward fit. not a very proffesional job if i could i would get a proper one made but omg it works it stays cool all the time well happy it will do for now see what gains i get when retune is done see pics. may have to move power steering oil filler about 5mm so it goes in easier thanks Taz

You probably won't notice the gains, but there will be some. 1% more air for every 7°C drop in temperature.

If you have INPA (or, better still, Testo), you will be able to measure the gain in mass air flow. It will be very easy to test the improvement, as your setup looks like it's very easy to remove.

The gain will still be within the range that your injectors can cope, and the ECU will learn the new profile, so win-win.

The gain through keeping it cool may be bigger than the loss in airflow rate between the Simota and the standard filter that I measured.

trying to get inpa for my very old lap top as none of my code readers will clear air bag fault. i have a very good tuner near me in folkstone may look at that later but at mo doing service stuff oils etc thanks Taz

INPA runs best on an XP computer with an RS232 serial port.

If you can get that to run, then try using Testo. That records INPA data and can be viewed from the data logs.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that Testo may run without INPA being installed.
