Well after two weeks of head scratching and checking why my cruise control would not activate, I have finally found the issue.
I first noticed a couple of weeks ago that it would not activate, and even after restarting the car several times it still would not work
I put INPA on, and got a number of brake switch errors, and one clutch switch error.
Luckily have a spare of each, (although the brake switch was an old one) but even after changing both of them, the CC fault was still there.
The codes cleared, but the brake switch code kept re-occuring.
Took that switch off again and reverted back to the newer one, continuity tested the switch off the car, and everything seemed fine .
Tried the car again, no cruise and still the brake switch error.
Checked every fuse in the car, not just the associated ones, by pulling them out completely and testing. No bad fuses.
I made sure the brake lights were coming on,............ then it dawned........
One change that I had made, and just not put 2 and 2 together......
these :
I had fitted LED indicators,..... not an issue,
but more importantly, LED brake light bulbs were..
I had fitted these a few weeks back, but had not used the CC until about 2 weeks ago.
Took the LED brake lights out, and refitted the normal bulbs,
and a fully working cruise control again.
one to watch people. Not all changes are for the better.
