Hello

Turned the key after 3 weeks of sitting and the ABS and traction fault lights lit up 2 weeks before MOT.

Plugged it into a Bosch Super computer from @Stevo7682 work place but it didn't read the ABS faults.

Is there a handheld diagnostic tool that will work with the early prefacelift 20 Pin OBD ABS module?

I have some spare sensors that hopefully will remedy the issue but no idea which of the 4 corners is the issue.

Yes i was hoping after the creator c110+ wouldn't read it ( thought might not as wouldn't read another forum member with same age 2.8.
But i did think our Bosch kts 350 in work would rwad it but sadly not need to know the fault so i know what to look at.
Stephen.

A bit of a trek for you but I've inpa and an obd1 reader up in Aberdeen. If you order yourself a USB obd1 cable I can send you software.

I just used it to read the same kinda faults

Early cars can be problematic when it comes to using some diagnostic scan tools, probably best is to use INPA on a Laptop. Scanned an early cat the other day for ABS problems and used my new Launch Tablet scanner, that read the fault code and pointed to the front right speed sensor which will be replaced. Downside to the Launch Tablet Scanner is its price @ £300 but it covers all makes worldwide and can programme BMW modules.

I had looked at INPA years ago but it sounded a bit of a fiddle needing old laptops with windows xp to run the software.

I guess I'll need to find someone with INPA in Glasgow, Inverurie is a trek. 😂 Appreciate the offer.

Just need to know what the fault is and go from there.

I've got it running on windows. A bit crashy at times but looks to read codes fine. You could always try Mark leith in Shotts at e30street. I am sure he'll be able to sort you

Just back from getting the car plugged into an INPA system and the ABS module wasn't able to be read. Also tried a more modern bmw diagnostic tool, both found the car and ecu but not the ABS module.

The 2 rear sensors are brand new and the front sensors seemed to be OK from a visual inspection.

I'm thinking my ABS module has popped...

Happened to me a few months ago. Remanufactured module fitted, with 12 month warranty. Pump tested OK.
117k on the clock so wouldn't be surprising to find it is the pump/module. Where did you get the module and where was it coded?

Indeed. Was down seeing Stevo and this idea was tried but the probes couldn't fit and we didn't have the tools to fabricate a work around at the time.

Granted, a visual inspection and assuming the new ones aren't duds isn't a real diagnosis. However, with INPA having zero comms with abs at all makes me think module.

My local Bosh service centre sorted it all for me; they outsourced the module work to a specialist in the area I believe.

Not any further forwards.

The ABS module simply isn't being picked up by 5 different Diagnostic tools. INPA 5.0.6, Creator C310, ISTA, Bosch KTS350 and also the Creator C110+.

Trying to think why the module isn't being picked up at all?
