Diff Swap

A question for the clever people.
Would a diff from a 330CI fit a 1.9 Z3 without swapping anything else such as half shafts et Al.
I assume it will have an LSD fitted and I may be able to source one cheaply.
It won't be cheap if I have to change the back end of the car

Hi Dave, you don’t have to delete it, other people may have wondered the same thing. Perhaps you could edit the first post stating you since discovered it won’t work.

Plus the gearing from a 3.0 on a 1.9 would be horrible. Might be worth just buying the correct crown wheel and get someone to fit it.

Reading elsewhere the diff mounting points are different and it would mean a whole back end swap , shame because a local guy had bought a 330ci for the gearbox and I was going to see if I could beg the diff from him.

Apparently so , the ratio is also wrong. The consensus elsewhere was buy a LSD conversation kit.

Yeah the only other straight swaps are the E30. Internals from others will fit if you know how to wield a spanner.

Look for a Torsen 3.38 or 3.15. I have one here
