Difficulty getting into second gear

I have been having difficulty getting the car into second gear sometimes it sticks and won’t go in I have to push it hard and then it clunks in. Is this the clutch or does the gearbox need replacing? It’s an 2003 e85 3.0i any ideas?

Very hard to say without sitting in the car and driving it. Unusual for a clutch issue to affect only 2nd gear but not impossible. My money would be on the gear box. Is this changing up OR down the box? Have you tried "double de clutching"?
