So, I'm a fledging in the detailing world with no real intentions to get serious about it as I don't have the time, so please be gentle with these results....

I bought the following yesterday....

DAS-6 Buff Daddy orbital machine polisher (99.95
GBP),
Lime Prime (fine cut compound, 13.95 GBP)
Lime Prime Plus (mid-cut compound, 13.95 GBP)
Red waffle finishing pad (7.95 GBP)
Microfibre cutting pad (9.95 GBP).
Supernatural Hybrid wax (29.95 GBP for 100ml).

The compounds are polishes, so no need for a separate polish so just went straight to wax.

At shows they do a DAS-6 kit for 130 GBP and the SN Hybrid wax for £25 GBP, so
they honoured that, 155GBP + 7 GBP for courier (UK mainland)= 162 GBP.

Now whilst I've had grinders in my hands over the year on a couple of occasions, I have never attempted to polish let alone try detailing a car.

Heres a couple of pics......

Left hand side cut but not waxed, right hand side only washed and dried.

And the car fully waxed and photographed in a dodgy neighbourhood in Glasgow. (Yes HT, I know, they're all dodgy)

The funny thing about the whole job is......when I was putting the polisher away into the kit bag thing it came in, I noticed there was an RPM adjustment wheel on the bottom of the shaft and it was set on the lowest setting. No 1. It goes up to 6 so I'll need to do it again in a month to see if it generates a better result !

I imagine you do not want to go faster than the first speed, as i hear you can burn the paint.

I am old fashioned and always hand polish my cars ( well, put in context, I hand polish the Triumph )

I have never polished the Z3 ...

It could do with it though, so if your offering

In the picture that's the water tower at woodhill Road, yes ?

I am trying to place where you are parked?

It's a DA orbital polisher. DA= Dual Action. This orbiting motion offers far more protection so as not to damage the paint. Running it faster as long as it's kept moving around the panel will not cause any harm, that said, as long as you have enough product on said panel too.

In my case Stevie, I have never polished the Hillman, its 50 years old next year, my excuse is it needs to look its age.

As of next year it wont need an MOT !!!

So the water tower is indeed on Woodhill road, my location in that pic was Broomton Road just behind the new houses, lots of landscape changes there in recent months. Not the nicest of places eh.

Thing with orbital probably more so than with a DA is to keep the surface wet, with a very fine water spray and your compound too. It's when it gets dry it is likely to burn. Also the faster the speed you run at the more you will end up wearing the compound. Wear clothes that don't matter.

Tony.

For someone who's not into detailing you've spent a few quid lex. You should get some good results with that lot. I'm a bit avid with cleaning my Zed but just do a clay bar once a year then use a good quality carnauba wax.

Hi Dave, I've just always fancied trying it.

I clayed the car the second day i got it ! I remember using a local carwash guy to get it washed a few days later and i heard him comment to his mate "the sponge just glides across BM's man". I didn't bother putting him right as two minutes later i heard him say, "the driver said keep the pressure gun a bit farther away from the hood, I dont know why cause I've never washed a soft top"
