From Vets of the 70's & 80's to XK8's, a 99 Boxster, and now an 07 XLR, 99 XK8 plus my most recent BMW Z3 roadster with 13,500 miles I have joined your Forum.
Yesterday, I lost throttle control on this meticulously maintained Silver beauty. Entering my 80's I am still a car guy. Previously, I focused on antiques of 20's, 30's,
40's and 50's. Restoring several to #1 condition and national awards.

I must say, that these newer machines can be daunting. I have found, after owning 3 XK8's from the late 90's, that they are the most reliable of the Lot, as well as the Vets. My earlier foray into antiques, while presenting challenges, made life much easier. Forums for all of the more recent vehicles have helped immensely!! Thank you all for your contributions.

I am on your site because of my Z3's loss of throttle response. I just got an update from BMW of Sarasota, FL. The loss was caused by 3 missing rubber grommets. One where the accelerator cable went through the firewall and two on either side of the accelerator pedal spring. It's amazing that the problem was so simple!!

Thank you. I have many Chevy friends there and have provided parts to help them with their projects.
A good mate of mine used to get his Impala bits sent over all the time, lovely car but man, parking it in a crowded shopping mall is one thing, getting out of it once you have is another thing entirely...

Hi and :welcome: to the forum from me too in Stafford, England. Pleased to hear that you got the problem fixed easily. Just goes to show it's age rather than mileage that damages rubber components.
