Hi - A while since I've dropped by...(will catch up soon).

Have to replace the battery on Gail's E89 20i. The Stop-Start hasn't been working for a while and it hasn't ben retaining charge.
Will be replaced by an identical spec battery.
Is it essential that you register the battery?
I understand there are two parts
1. Register change of battery (only for changing spec of battery)
2. Reset the battery charging parameters

Anyone done this and know what needs to be done?

Many thanks.

Hi Ian, I haven't needed to on my E89, yet, but I have a feeling the day isn't too far in the future.
Nice to see you on here again, hope you both well.

Tony.

Battery changed, but Stop/Start still not working. I think some coding will be necessary.
I'll pm you!

You didn't mention if you registered the new battery? If you didn't, then the system thinks you have the old (knackered) battery in.

If you did register the new battery, then drive it a lot with some good reasonable-mileage drives. Let the new battery get to full charge and then see if the stop-start works.

There are many parameters that have to be met before the stop-start works, battery voltage is just one of them.

The battery was registered (I believe. I simply forgot to ask the Indy who did the change but we’d discussed it.) it’s getting a drive into Brum on Saturday (about 60 miles round trip) and then up to Edinburgh and back in a few weeks - as long as it behaves beforehand.
I know someone will have the tools on here to do a proper reset if needed.
