I've booked my Z in for a early MOT :p
As I've got the Engine amber light on :(
So I know it's going to fail :)
But at least the mechanic can fix it and then I'll have 13 months MOT
It's booked in for Thursday

I doubt the engine light would make it fall @Shelly. I'm guessing you've asked the mechanic to investigate it as well as the MOT

Alans car had to have work done on it last week for the MOT :(
We're got both cars and mots and tax all in the same month :(
And believe it or not our sons mot and tax this month too =))
How crazy is that ;)

Hi Shelly how are you keeping .
As said already your engine check light on will only affect the mot if it causes a problem with the emissions.
Just something else if your car fails and the mot station tells you that you that you can still drive the car on the old mot as it is still valid.
DON'T the failure is recorded on the database and the police are now using this to prosecute drivers for driving on a public road with a known defect
Stephen.

Whilst I don't disagree with this practice, a car that can't pass an Mot shouldn't be on the road, the government need to do more to educate/inform the motorist about these new procedures.
Up until recently you could continue to drive until the old cert ran out, all very well making the laws better but surely people need to be told somehow?

Or have I missed this info somewhere?

I came across this on a dvla website.
As an mot tester myself i can tell you there has been no official guidance on this .
But if you want to get down to the nitty gritty it has for a number of years been the case that it is illegal to drive on a public road with a known defect .
Now obviously if you have failed an mot then you have a known defect .
But people would use the remainder of the current test to drive about.
The main difference now is the police have decided as the failure is recorded on the database they can use that info to then prosecute you for driving with a known defect.
The more electronic we all get the more all these loopholes will get closed .

Yes my Z passed its MOT :p
With a few advisories :(
The mechanic couldn't put my Z on the machine to tell me what is wrong with the Zs engine
So I'm taking it back on Monday to see what the problem is ;)
