I have a 2001 2.2i E36 roadster & I recently had problems with it losing power & stalling. I had it checked on a diagnostic machine which brought up fuel management, camshaft & crankshaft sensor codes. I had the fuel problem fixed & it now starts ok & runs well but if it is stopped & started from hot it tries to stall when the accelerator is pressed. I thought the fuel problem had brought up the cam & crankshaft codes but it seems there is still a problem. Any help greatly appreciated before I spend more money at the garage.

Hi John, I had a very similar fault with my car last year, where it would cut out at lights or roundabout just as you tried to accelerate away. It was the inlet cam sensor on mine. Most people advocate using genuine BMW parts for this but I used an OEM aftermarket one through Euro Car Parts. They do a cheaper range ........ Stay clear of these. HTH.

Tony.

Hi, i have the exact same model so am watching with interest. My software says i have a cam sensor error on bank B (i think) but the car runs beautifully with no incidents. I hope you sort your issue out with little money wasted.

Hi again from Canada. Before spending any more at your local garage I'd suggest buying a diagnostics code reader and the manual either paper or CD which will adapt to a laptop or iPhone. This will save you a lot in the long run. Perhaps a member that lives close by will let you borrow it. Once you have the codes I'm certain someone will have your solution. Anyone around @John Stoker ?? JIM
