Hi All.Just thought I would bring this to your notice in case you haven't seen it and are contemplating replacing any brake lines yourself.
One of the problems with using copper or cupro nickel brake pipe is trying to straighten it from the coil in the form in which it is supplied.
This is the tool you need.Just bought it and it is excellent. It's not cheap at about £42 but it's well made and does an amazing job so I think well worth the money.

I have no connection with either the manufacturers or suppliers.

Straightening the Tube is bad enough, this tool looks good for that job. What would be a useful addition would be a tool that can give a nice tight bend as per the factory.

You have one on each hand Mile, they're called thumbs. Girling used to offer a cheap bending tool years ago, I don't know if they still do or not. I own one but very rarely use it to be honest. You can also get pipe bending pliers.

Yes I know Tony, about thumbs and pliers, but matching the factory bends, that's so difficult to do with your thumbs or pliers surely some manufacturer somewhere markets a machine that will do it.

I like the idea of copper pipe Tony but I've never used it. I have preferred to use Cunifer it seem more durable in unprotected areas of a car. But because it's quite a hard material it's difficult to bend, also difficult to get perfectly straight off the reel.

The copper is very good Mike, the only down side is that the steel union nuts do tend to stick on the copper so you are best to apply some copper grease to the pipe before tightening the joint.. Cuniffer is good, but as you say not so easy to work with. I still use it where I can bend the pipe easily.

All I can say is that nothing beats using two thumbs for form bends and straighten copper pipe. Having a good straight line though using that tool seems like it makes it easy..

This was the temp fix on @Shortie_gal 's little vixen.. Should be good for a long while until the replacement plastic arrives.
