Hi all I am hoping someone can help with this one. Z4 23i Sdrive the service book has 3 filter mentioned, Air filter not a problem, but then we have a Micro filter and a Recirculating Filter, I am guessing the Micro-filter is the cabin filter but what and where is the recirculating filter. I have looked quite hard but cant get a handle on this one.

Hi Nodzed that's what has me confused I have two separate tick boxes in the service booklet 1 for the micro-filter with a blower icon and 1 for the recirculating air filter with a recirculating icon, I wouldn't of thought its an important filter as its not engine related but I am new to BMW,S and unfortunately just cant help myself as I get as much pleasure from doing jobs as I do Driving, like I say very new to BMW Z4 but loving it.

From the picture I’d guess one is for AC dragging air in from the outside, the other when AC is set to cool air already in the car - but I thought they went through the same filter.

I may have found something on google but not sure, just punched in BMW recirculating filter and a short video come up with a guy on a 7 series, a small filter was behind the glove box but couldn't rally work out what its for he also gave the impression it may have one on the drivers side. got me going now:oops:

Different BMWs will have different features parts etc you cant look at other models and assume its the same on the Z4. I am very confident its the one filter, BUT if you find another please let me know I'm always open to learning.

I don't think I am going to worry about it but this is what they call a Recirculation Filter.
