New to the forum - hello! Had a 3.0 MSport (loved it) now bought an M Roadster (love it even more). Would like advice on use of ARCHOIL AR6400 Pro Petrol Cleaner and AR 2300 fluid system cleaner prior to next service.

On 98k I have 2 green service lights left so 2-3 k till oil change, AR2300 should sit in oil for 2-3k miles to flush before change. Anyone used these? - they are highly recommended - any warnings for S50 engine for oil type?
thanks

Welcome from me @Reuben!

That's a cracking selection of past/present wheeled devices you have, I can see why you have ended up owning a couple of Z3's as well!

I'm sure someone technical will be along in a bit to answer your questions better than I can.

Any questions, just shout ;)

Welcome Reuben, your ///M looks identical to mine having the same interior colour combo. I have not heard of the fuel treatment you have mentioned but with regard to the oil there are is a little confusion as to the grade depending on where you lookup the information. If you check out the Castrol website they quote the 10w60 Edge oil as being specifically for the ///M cars but delving a little deeper it refers to the S54 engines and the S50 engines are supposed to use the 0W40 grade oil which is what I use in mine. However there are quite a few people out there that still us the 10W60 grade in the S50 and have had no problems indeed I think I will try it next time myself. Being a thicker oil it is more suited to the hotter climates but as I only use my Z3 in the warmer months it should be ok. It is also supposed to quieten down the vanos slightly with it being a thicker viscosity.

Welcome Reuben, I personally would shy away from putting any additive into the engine oil, and more so an //M with its tighter tolerances. I would just use the recommended oil and change more frequently. I know a few people that have used engine flush and taken the big end bearings out in the process. Not dating the engine flush was at fault, but it's a coincidence, plus modern oils have cleaning properties as part of the make up.

Welcome to the forum from Canada! Great looking car by the way! There has been a lot of discussion regarding oils so take some time and search of that information, and be sure to let us know the results. JIM

Welcome to the Forum buddy.

Admittedly, I used an Engine flush in mine (STP) recently during a service but that was more because the car has sat for 14 years without a service, in fact at 4000 miles, the car had never been serviced. Runs like a swiss watch, I used Castrol TWS as I've used it all my M3's, S50's and S54's.

Welcome along... Nice car!

I'll be interested in how you get on with the additive, though quite how you'll know whether or not it's a success I don't know.

I think changing the oil regularly and getting the engine hot is as good as any additive though. Keep the wheels turning and all is usually well. It's when they stand for long periods in damp conditions that things go wrong.

Generally the engines are very durable, so change that oil and enjoy your car.

:)
