Hi all,

Been chatting with guy in the US on Facebook. Can anyone help with the wiring query...

I just bought a no name brand of projector/halo fog lights for the z3. The instructions included are minimal at best. Installation cost for my mechanic is exhorbitant and therefore I would like to give installation a try myself. Does anyone know of an installation guide or video to give me a fighting chance for success?

I have standard OEM fog lights in currently. The new ones are projector/halo. I can plug and play the projectors, however, if I want the halo, that is where the need for a tutorial or some kind of instruction is sought. There is an on/off switch for the halos which also requires installation. I'm guessing I'll have to drill through the firewall to connect it.

I'm thinking the Halos could be tapped in to the side marker lighting, and then the switch fed back through the bulkhead. Other than that I'm stumped for the specifics.

Thanks all, Gary

Gaz,

You got a picture of these? Can you not tap the projectors off the side light circuit (this mean that the projectors are on when your lights are on) and use the fog light circuit as standard for the halo?

Have I got this the right way round?

Hi,

Are these the type your are fitting?

I linked them all together from the side lights so they are all on together, no additional switches...

Cheers Zteve, I didn't make it clear that it's the guy in the US who is asking the question!

That looks to be along the lines of what I thought, so will post a link to this thread for him to see if they are the same. Any thoughts on the wiring? Just a case of tapping in to the side marker feeds?

Just that, very simple task. I pared back the insulation on the side lights wiring and soldered the Halo wiring on then re-insulated. No issue with additional power as the Halo's take so little it would be hardly noticeable...

Zteve,

I'm the person in US with the foglight issue. My new fog lights are identical to yours. I've not installed anything on the zed before so I'm a little nervous and seeking some guidance.

You zed is absolutely gorgeous. Very nice job.

Thanks,

Wayne

Hi Wayne and welcome to the forum.

It would be great if you would say hello in Introduce Yourself! and post up some photos of your car, as we are all mad about pics and even more so from overseas members.

Hi Wayne, welcome and cheers...

Nothing to worry about fitting these just take some time and you'll be fine.
Remember to let us see the result... :)
