Afternoon all
Just collected an early 3.0 with airbag lights on. Quick look on the C110+ reader I get:

From what I've read up on, I'm thinking it's probable the Right B Pillar satellite unit is shot. There's evidence of water getting in around that door.
Looks like you can use a second hand unit if the serial number is the same, and you then get it re-coded to the correct VIN number.

Questions:
Does that sound a reasonable approach?
Are there any recommendations for a coding specialist in the south east? I don't want to get into the software myself, it's over my paygrade.
Any chance it could be either bad connections or the main control unit?
Is the satellite unit in the door it's self or the inner sill under the carpet?

Any guidance gratefully received.
Cheers

I had that issue on my old E85 on the O/S. Auto electrician separated the connector on the "A" pillar, sprayed the pins etc. with contact cleaner spray, reconnected it and cleared the codes.

Cheers for that Tony I'll have a look.
In your car where the modules on the A Pillar, so in front of the door hinges?

This was just the door loom connector. It is held down by an 8mm bolt.

Check your battery condition first, I had some of these on an e85 including 98D3, my issue was a low input to the firing pin on the positive connector on the battery that threw up all sorts of air bag codes including 3 of the four pillar sensors. Took it to my local BMW specialist who diagnosed it immediately and correctly. New battery (though the car was starting OK but had been flat a few weeks earlier ) a reset and all was good. Just a thought.
