Hi Frankie, working on the principle that you have now accepted that Silverstone is well and truly off the cards (note the choice phrase!) and several members have come up with some great ideas for your visit. we are hoping that you might be able to bring your flight forward one day, so that you can still visit Duxford and meet up with us all on the Sunday evening July 27th.

The reason we have asked if you are able to change your flight is because, along with most of the East Anglian Crew, we are away the weekend of the 1st to 4th of August cruising in the Lake District with another Zed Forum. Failing that, if you are unable to change your arrangements, You would be most welcome to join us on our Lakes Cruise. You would love the incredible scenery and it would fill your last four days in England magnificently.

If none of the above is possible, we can always meet up after work for a meal on one of the evenings, Frankie.

Its Sat morning now before I leave for work and I just popped on the computer for a sec and just noticed this 3:14 AM. Have to drive to AC for work now but will think about the possibilities. Thanks, Frankie.

It would seem to make much more sense for Frankie to join the tour at the weekend, especially if no one will be around our area. There will be far more fun to be had as a group.

Maybe head to Millers and then either on to Derbyshire or across to us before heading to the Lakes?

Yes, Rev, we think so too! Plus there is nothing as stunning as the magnificent scenery of the Lake District, especially viewed from a ZED!!!!!

Some members of the forum have asked me how my plans are coming along. So far, I'm meeting up with Miller 1098 the day I arrive, assuming that I make it to Wales in one piece with the rental car. After that, the next few days are open until I get to the Lakes District to go on a tour with a group Mike and Sandy hooked me up with. I was hoping to see Duxford either Wed. or Thurs. or perhaps meet up with the EAG for dinner or drinks (up to them). I'm open for suggestions. Here is some conversation with Mike and Sandy regarding the weekend:

Just got home from work. I have the next two days off and plan to look over everything that has been suggested. I sort have hung back from saying anything because many suggestions were being made and I thought I'd let the dust settle to see just what everyone had said. It all looks so exciting. Frankie
We hope to be able to tell you tomorrow if the Hotel has a spare room, they are fully booked, but another group that are staying there the same weekend may not have used all their allocation. If you decide to come it will mean driving up with us in your hire car, in order to be able to drive back late Sunday evening to catch your plane Monday lunch time, but Zedster4 has said that he would be pleased to have your company as a passenger in his Z4,as we drive the routes planned for the weekend.
Mike & Sandy
Hi Frankie, good news the Crooklands Hotel has one single room available, but they need it confirming as soon as possible.
Have you made a decision yet on whether you are coming on our Lake District Cruise on August 1st to August 4th?
Eagerly awaiting your reply.
Mike & Sandy
Hi Frankie
The room is for 3 nights, Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday night if you require. However if your plane leaves at 12.40pm on Monday, you may be wise to have an early night Sunday and leave the hotel very early in the morning on Monday, It is a long drive from the Lakes down to London Heathrow airport. The Hotel price of £278 (sterling) includes bed and Breakfast and Saturday evening meal, a barbeque is planned for Friday night at one of the members home, which just leaves Sunday evening meal to be arranged
How long a drive is it to the airport and is it possible I'll be hitting any traffic?
Yes, Frankie it will be fairly busy as it will be Monday morning, it is roughly 450 miles, all on fast motorways, not far by US standards with the distances between your cities!!! If you travel overnight, say from 2-3am, having slept first at the Hotel, then have a doze in the airport when you get there, it will be a doddle (English word for easy!)
M & S
I'm going to try to book it right now. As soon as I have any result, I'll PM you right back. Frankie
All you need to do after that Frankie is to join thezedlounge.com Snoops is the forum owner (real name Doris). Yes they are holding it for you, but might not know your name, it's booked under BMW meet/club?
All booked. They had the room saved under thezedlounge. I'll contact them now.
Well done! Looking forward to meeting you soon, better get off to bed now, Night night!!!
Texting Doris now.
Mike & Sandy
Joined their forum. Feel like a traitor. Must go to bed myself as I get up at 2:23 AM Good Night and thanks for the help.
No Frankie, several of the Lounge members are also Zorg and zroadster.net and in the BMWCarclub of Great Britain members too, so no worries there! We attend meets on all the forums.
Hopefully we will still meet up with some of the others for a meal at Duxford maybe Wed or Thurs Eve
M & S
Frankie, Loads of people belong to several forums, We are going to Newark Airplane Museum with Zroadster.net with several Zorg members on 31st May, on the Rutland Water Cruise and Duxford in May & June with Zroadster.org and the Lakes with The Zed Lounge in August. We are also members of the Z4 forum, but it is so busy, you don't know which post to read first, it is not unusual for that forum to have three whole pages of posts each day, which makes it not quite so personal. The Zed Lounge is more of a social site, not technical, although the members do ask about any problems they have.
M & S
Almost sounds like a nightclub with Snoops as the headliner

Mike, I was thinking of you the other day, I have some video somewhere of when I worked on the cruise ship and I think we were going to Amsterdam and we were traveling along this long, narrow canal. We past a draw bridge that was elevated to the height of our first open deck, deck 7. I was up by the bow rail with the video camera. The bridge was open and the cars were stopped with all the people out of their cars and standing at the end of the open bridge leaning against the railings. The opening was so narrow that as we passed the open bridge, we could almost touch the outstretched hands of the people on the bridge. Got any idea where that was? I'll see if I can find the old beta tape. Frankie

That is the North Sea Canal just down the road from me. We have two motorway tunnels going under it but you can cross the huge lock gates down on the coast. Years ago watched an Aircraft Carrier (Ark Royal) come through, its flight deck stuck out and above our heads There is a golf course near by and it is weird to see a large ship looking like it is sailing across the 10th green. As for the bridge, can't help you.

They do this every 5 years,

Looks like there's a chance you could be meeting up with Oldcarman from the States, when you're over here, Frankie!

So near yet so far, over the pond! Would be good for you to meet up with him and compare us notes.;)

At home now. To continue........I just got a tip as to where to stay Saturday night. I was hoping to go on the Rutland cruise on Sunday. It would be so nice to actually be on a cruise with other members instead of always having to only read about them on the forum. This would really be great. The thought of it makes me feel like a little kid that can't wait for something to happen and looking forward to it. That leaves Monday open. I'll take any suggestions as to what to do or go or see. I'm not sure how far I am from London and I must be back for my flight on Tuesday at 12:40 PM. Frankie
