Hi guys
Help much appreciated, I'm considering upgrading my front brakes to vented discs, could anyone let me know of any direct replacement for MY98 1.9 Z3 Roadster. In other words what other vehicles use the same parts?
Thanx alot guys :)
P.s.
Has anyone got an aerial to fit, someone has broken the whip off mine:mad:

Hi Drew,

In order to fit vented discs to the 1.9, you will need to upgrade to 2.8 or 3.0 calipers and discs, you will also need the 2.8 caliper carriers (also E46 320d) (part number 34106758104) which are wider, you can buy all the bits off ebay i reckon £200 will be a complete parts list. Alternatively you could try red stuff pads, a number of members swear by them.

i will be doing this mod over this winter, so will be posting a how too, but again a number of members have upgraded and i am sure they will share info shortly.

Is it the long ariel you are after? i may have one in my garage, will check tomorrow

Just took some pics to show you where broken and if it can be fixed, not sure how the whip fits into it as the ones on eBay all screw in but I cannot see any threads

I suspect half if the mount is still screwed to the bottom of the whip looking at those pics.

As I'm new to these I have no idea how they fit, thats why I couldn't understand when searching for the aerial on ebay they all were screw in type. Does the bit thats missing have the threads in or not?

The base has a female thread M5 I think and a corrosponding male thread on the base of the aerial. Have a look at the following ebay listing which is for a direct replacement aerial for the oem one. I have bought one of these and I can't tell the difference between the original and new one.

As your base is obviously broken you will also need a new one of those and they are not cheap at around £80 from BMW or you could try a breaker like Quarry Motors in Sheffield who are very good at stuff like this.

Hi Drew, Aceman is right the thread bit is still attached to the antenna, so you will need a new antenna base, part number 65218375159, it was used on all Z3 variants and on E36 3 series convertibles, so i would try some breakers yards before paying ebay prices, and a quick check at Coopers BMW they are £83, so may pay to ask Soper BMW on this Forum

It should look like this, thread on the end:

And purchased one but I'm struggling tightening the nut inside the double skin of the bodywork. Also I'm still contemplating what/how to join the two coax cables together

Hi Drew, can you take some pictures of what you trying to do, it should be plug and play?
