Front top mounts

Hi everyone, I am thinking of changing the front suspension top mounts on my 2000 2.0 Z3 to help cure the tramlining. I have done everything else & changing tyres made the most difference but its still not right. I have looked at the Z3M tops & M3 tops which alter the camber & castor but the 1995 M3 tops only alter castor so I would rather go for these.
My question is ... Has anyone fitted these tops & if I change them but keep my springs will the springs hit the inside of the suspension turrets as the new top mount will move the spring back from its original position. Also do I just need the top mounts or would I need other parts

Hi, I personally don't think changing the top mounts will achieve the results you are seeking.Looking at the pics of your car I think the wheels and tyres are the problem.18" and particularly 19" are notorious for giving the "tramlining" effect and I have experience of this on previous cars.Try standard wheels on the car and make a judgement on whether you prefer looks to comfort! hope this helps

I wouldnt change the wheels back to standard even though I know the 18s are the main cause of the problem I would rather put up with it. I read somewhere that the reason they put the offset tops on an M roadster was to alter the castor angle to help stop the tramlining & I have heard of some people fitting them to a standard zed & it cured the problem as altering the castor angle makes a big change to the geometry but I dont know if they had to change the springs to narrower ones which would then mean having to change the whole shock
