Hi everyone
Hope this is best place to release the news that our Z3 (OMLET) will be featuring in some forthcoming Summer editions of Classic Car, Classic Car Weekly and Practical Classics.

Not sure yet of the publication dates - we will have to keep an eye on the magazine racks in W H Smith. (I will update if i get more info)
After abandoning one event (4th June) due to heavy rain we attended a rearranged and Sunny photo shoot at The Top Gear test track on June 10th at Dunsfold in Surrey.

There were 6 cars - Mazda MX5, BMW Z3, Porsche Boxster, Mercedes SLK, Rover MGF and the amazing but tiny Lotus Elise.
A main article will appear in Classic Car and this will compare all 6 roadsters but relating them to the original Mazda MX5.
A further two articles will appear in the other 2 magazines comparing our standard 1.9 Z3 with all factory/dealer fitted M sport options to the SLK with all its AMG options.

It was an amazing day but none-stop and very tiring. It was a 6am start for me and a 270 mile round trip but worth every minute.
Lots of posing the cars, driving in a formation and great banter with the other owners. Watching the editor Sam get in and out of the Elise was hilarious.

Well we did our best to promote the Z3 Roadster and everyone was very complimentary so now all we can hope is that the Magazine articles are kind !!! LOL
Some interesting facts - The MGF is still the same owner from new, the Elise is very low mileage and the owner also has a Maclaren 650, the Porsche was the first ever Boxster in the UK in 1996. The Mazda is owned by Mazda UK in their heritage collection and the SLK is red !

We are not allowed to share any pictures similar to the possible magazine shots but here are a couple to give you an idea of the day.

It was really OK. The photographer "Jordan" was even cleaning and polishing all the 6 cars wheels and windows !!!
Owners did 90% of the driving - which was particularly hairy during some of the dynamic shots - following the car in front trying to maintain 2 feet from his bumper !! Imagine me driving along and the photographer (held by a harness) hanging over my passenger door trying to get a shot of the Z3 front wheel but only 2 feet from the rear of the moving Boxster !!!
In order for the Editor to properly appreciate each car he did have to drive each one a lap of the circuit........ he says he didn't go fast......!

My first Z4 was (with my permission) driven spiritedly by Jason Plato for a 5th Gear shootout with a Porsche Boxster and a Mazda RX8 (episode is still on YouTube). JP had previously owned an E85 when they were first released and I didn’t need to tell him where the sport button was, because he’d already pressed it

The filming day was long and involved lots of standing around by JP had plenty of racing driver tales to keep us laughing!

Hope you enjoyed the whole experience of the day working with magazine guys and the photographer. Look forward to seeing the results when the magazines are published.

I did a similar day with Practical Classics Mag back in 2016 along with Alan Jones (he got me the invite to take part) which was part of an article on Triumph GT6 at 50 (years old). They used part of the Standard Triumph test route near Chipping Camden at Fish Hill. Great fun with Danny Hopkins doing test drive down then up the hill in each car. He loved the M Coupe but of course the GT6 won the day.

We all got free copies of PC Mag plus a disc with all the photos taken on the day aswell as PDF copy of the article.
It made you appreciate just what goes towards pulling together a magazine article of this nature.

Can remember reading that article long before we had thought about getting a Z. Looking forward to seeing OMLET in Practical Classics.

Fantastic to read all your stories. It's good to hear about other cars appearing in mags especially the famous Jason Plato. I love Spitfires and even better if its yellow. The GT6 deserves so much praise and I remember someone once said it's the affordable e-type. Cant argue with that.
And now the sun is here so we can get out there again with hoods down. Hooray.

Many years ago I had the privilage to own a 1974 Triumph GT6 in mimosa yellow with webasto sunroof, A one owner from new car (basket case) which I purchased from Arundel and transported it back to Sunderland. With the car I also received a full detailed history the original order form and invoice, after a painstaking 4 year restoration it suddenly turned into a house extension and conservatory, even back then I received an offer I couldn’t refuse.........£££££’s
After I had sold the car it appeared in several motoring magazines and at one point was sold through Bonhams classic car auction.

Ive just sickened myself by looking up the car on google, anyone interested google
Bonhams GT6 VMT 124M
