Hi all I'm looking for some good advice about what to do with my roof. I have a couple of problems
1 -Cracked rear window, this is the original zip in window, as it has lasted nearly 20 years would like to replace with similar. I had a price from my local BM dealer of about £200 for the window, but I am struggling to find someone local (Gloucestershire) to fit it. I've seen the youtube videos but don't want to risk it!
2 -A "lazy" hood motor/system. It works fine in our normal English weather but when it gets hotter 20+ the system does not have enough "umpf" to raise the hood. So I'm unsure whether the motor is the problem or the hydraulic fluid, again both original from 97. When this happens I have to resort to pulling it up by hand!
I don't think I need a new hood as the car has been garaged all it's life, or for the 18 years I've had it.

Thanks to anyone that can help.

The rear windows aren't that difficult to zip out and zip in again, just need some patience and a second pair of hands. There are cheaper suppliers of rear screens, as £200 is over half the cost of a complete new roof from some decent suppliers.

As for the speed issue I'd check the hydraulic fluid level. Not heard of anyone ever having to replace the fluid, but low level would certainly stop it from raising high enough.
